Word is still spreading!

We've been busy trying to keep up with growing demand as our customers keep spreading the good word. yelp, urbanspoon, gowalla, and others in the blogosphere have shout-outs honoring us. Aw, shucks. Still, we get all misty eyed thinking about our fifteen minutes of fame in the traditional media spotlight. Or, maybe it's just those dang jalapenos.

The latest media convert is Stacey Kratz, writing for the Deseret News (11/04/10). Click HERE to read the full review.

Deseret News - 11/04/10

Stacey Kratz and her family sampled our delicious offerings and had this to say:

"Former Texan Johnny Boots has a name that should rank among the best western monikers ever and a passion for kolaches. He perfected his recipe for the distinctive soft, sweet dough that gives kolaches their unique flavor... This is food that's worth a trip."

"(we) also had a cheeseburger kolache, a simple but inspired combination of two basic meatballs cooked with cheese inside a kolache bun. Didn't need anything else to make it just right."

"We also tried a cinnamon roll that was so delightful and well balanced that it really night <sic> be the best one in the valley outside a home kitchen."

Salt Lake Magazine - 10/20/08

Food editor, Mary Ann Malouf, had this to say:

"Kolaches have arrived in Utah. Gut feeling: they're gonna be a huge hit."

"Johnny Boots, owner of the new Johnny Kolache's on 900 West is betting that Utahns are going to love kolaches and why not? We're suckers for sweet, doughy concoctions and Johnny's kolaches are handmade and fresh-baked every day."

Salt Lake Tribune - 12/03/08

It was a little hard to miss - the front page of The Mix section showed a massive picture beneath the headline: "Kolaches of the titans: Czech baked tradition comes to Utah" Kathy Stephenson, along with photos by Al Hartman, introduced our traditional treats to readers of the Tribune.

Fox 13 - 11/03/08

Big Budah's visit from the Fox 13 morning show Good Day Utah is but a distant memory, their streaming video of the event long since relegated to the big bit bucket at the end of the Internet. Suffice it to say that after spending a morning with us, he couldn't wait to take a batch back to the newsroom. Thankfully, not the ones he tried to make.
